Tzahal Square is located in the beating heart of Jerusalem, from which the city can be divided into three parts. In the north is the ultra-Orthodox area centered around Mea Shearim, in the east is the Arab part of the city centered around Salah ad-Din Street, and in the west is the new city centered around Jaffa Street and Ben Yehuda Street.
The Heart of Jerusalem
Pay attention to the people crossing the intersection. Here, you can see all the religions and communities of Jerusalem’s residents. Every city in the world has its city center, right? Well, in Jerusalem, it’s a bit more complicated. Jerusalem doesn’t have one center, but three. To our north, we enter the ultra-Orthodox neighborhoods whose business center is on Malkhei Israel Street. If we look to the east, to the east of the city, the Old City, and the entire Arab area, their business center is on Salah ad-Din Street. And to the west, the new city that you know, its center is around Zion Square. So, what’s here? Here lies the heart of Jerusalem. This is exactly the connecting point between the three different areas of the city.
